At this point, from our individual perspectives, what is our music like? What goes into it?
We will discuss individual songs and their meaning and creation process. On stage, we’ve taken to not explaining our songs, but… you’re here, right? You must want to know things!
Climate apocalypse
Climate Apocalypse is a song that was written under the impression of growing unease about climate change and what it means for all of us. The things people don’t immediately think about. People thing: Oh, it will be warm. I like warm. In the temperate zones, we might think that way.
We’re now see every year, how new extremes in “weather” and local and seasonal climates affect us more and more. Storms. Floods. Heat waves. Droughts. BUT even local cold periods could follow. Nevertheless, we in the wealthy temperate zones, the global north, tend to think we’ll be alright. That may be the case (even though there are already signs pointing out that the temperate zones might be extraordinarily affected by weather extremes).
“But you’re killing your children, too!”
However, There is an entire belt around the earth, from the equator in both directions of tropics and sub-tropics, where people decidedly will NOT be fine. That’s why Climate Apocalypse isn’t just a song about the physical dangers of climate change, but about the human aspect, the human cost, and the possibly inhumane outcomes that might go along with it. It’s a song about building a fortress of the global north, locking out the billions of people who are less fortunate. We have to imagine, that if climate change is left unchecked, in a few years there might be a migration movement that will absolutely dwarf the one of the Syrian war. Billions might start moving. What are we going to do then? Humanity is not humane enough for that!
The Rain Song
The Rain Song is the most dramatic and serious song ever 🙂 Here’s what you can’t understand on stage because my (Nicholas) articulation is too mumbly:
“Fuck the Rain! Fuck the Lightning! Fuck the Thunder! Bring it on NOW!”
